Paladin Changes Abound

So I figured being that the blog is named “Techadin” I should actually post about something Paladin related once in awhile, especially with the Paladin changes being put out a couple days early. I’m not usually one to make a huge deal out of changes for a game/expansion that’s not even in beta testing, but I just can’t pass this up.

Altaholics Anonymous

I know the topic has probably come up at least once over the past few days with all the Cataclysm previews going live. An expansion is a great time to switch to a toon who has maybe been left by the wayside but is still at level cap. I find it increasingly difficult to switch my main (or even consider it) while we’re in the middle of an existing expansion pack or even work on alts in general. Any time spent leveling or gearing up another character feels like little more than a complete waste, I could be using that time to work on my main raiding toon after all. I suppose depending on what has you excited about Cataclysm you may or may not have issues shifting your focus. Irregardless of your situation or interests I still think there are a fairly standard number of advantages and disadvantages to spending a notable amount of time working on alts. Continue reading

Leveling…Again and Again

One statement from Blizzard in the past number of months that has shocked me was to hear that roughly 70% of created characters in WoW don’t make it past level 10. Being someone who doesn’t typically have an issue creating/leveling alts this really gets me thinking…what is it that stops so many people dead in their tracks? Surely a great deal of theĀ inevitable end of an alt’s life has to do with the poor quest design in the old world. I’m someone who doesn’t mind burning through a starting zone I’ve played 100 times previously, it’s all about staying focused on your goals ahead and not so much on how mind numbingly boring things might be along the way. I know many people who will almost automatically drag a new ‘toon of any race to the Draenei or Blood Elf started zone to take advantage of the improved quest flow but I’ve never really been able to get into the practice. Why Blog, Why Now?

Up until recently I had considered my time in World of Warcraft to be fairly typical of many players. Aside from getting involved in a raiding guild and getting to know people via Vent I have taken on a number of other “projects” within the out of game community. My initial first hand experience in the community surrounding this game was when Stomplina and Hafrot from Rawrcast agreed to take me on doing recordings for the “Under the Hood” segment. On a weekly basis I came to the show and spent 5 to 10 minutes discussing PC hardware and relating it to the general WoW player. Unfortunately the pre-recorded nature of the segment ended up leaving me feeling slightly detached from the whole experience and my “run” on the show ended after 13 installments. Continue reading

Face Rolling to Perfection

Face rolling, perfection…in the same sentence? The topic of Ret Paladins and other DPS classes face rolling through their rotations is a topic that’s brought up all to often. It is a harsh reality that some classes have a much easier time with their DPS rotations, what this does NOT mean is that there’s any room for improvement. Continue reading

I thought it seemed proper to start things off formally. My goal for this blog is to have a place to share my points of view on news related to both WoW and PC hardware. I’m a hardware fanatic who would often rather be overclocking, benchmarking or modding my PC then playing games but WoW has slowly started to leech more and more of that time.

I’ve been building and overclocking computers for 9 or 10 years and playing WoW for about 3, this has left me slightly less jaded towards the game then many people. In WoW the majority of my time is either spent raiding or working on useless achievements as a time sink. As the name of the blog implies I play a Paladin as my main with Holy as my main spec and Ret for solo play.

As I said, this will be more a congregation of personal views and opinions than a news source in addition to musings about overclocking and system building. I’m not here solely to nab as many subscribers as possible but if any of the above interests you enough to warrant a return visit then great. Initially my intent is to post at least a few times each week but the content will never be forced. There may be weeks in which you see 13 posts go up and some containing 4 or 5. All in all my goal for this blog is to offer relatively clean, uncensored commentary on the passions which I value most…hopefully that will be apparent enough that you might want pop in once and awhile. šŸ˜‰
